An eco-friendly and cost-effective biocide (X) to control bacterial deterioration of paper in paper-mills

Slime deposit by bacteria is a serious problem in paper-mills that causes breakage of paper-webs which leads to increase in production costs. Commercial biocides available in the market and used by paper mills are usually harmful, corrosive and expensive; moreover, the complete eradication of sessile and sporadic biofilms is difficult for them.  (X) was found by us as an alternative, eco-friendly biocide to be used as an effective antibacterial agent in paper-mills.  (X) was tested in the R and D set-up of a highly reputed paper mill against the consortium of all the bacteria isolated from paper mill. It completely inhibits the bacterial growth at a concentration of 30 ppm. Easy application, reduced cost and high stability at room temperature are some of the advantages of (X) over several of the other commercially available biocides.
