The ground water is being utilized by an industry for its processes. The industry first de-mineralise huge volume of this ground water daily. The industry utilize Ion-Exchange Technology. A strong acid cation resin in the hydrogen form converts dissolved salts into their corresponding acids, and strong base anion resin in the hydroxide form removes these acids.

The cost for a typical ion exchange system ranges from $0.08 to $0.21 per 1,000 liters treated. The industry requires alternate low-cost technology to de-mineralise the ground water and de-ashing of silica particles.
