Increasing Grindability with a Reduction of Specific Power Consumption

 Industrial Problem for Innovation /

A Cement Manufacturing Industry utilizes Two-Stage Grinding i.e. a Hydraulic Roller Press (HRP) and then a Ball-Mill to obtain Clinker. A Clinker is transitional product in cement production, obtained from heating limestone and clay. Partial melting occurs and clinker granules are formed. In addition to the physical and chemical characteristics of clinker, the required grinding degree (grinding fineness) also affects grinding balls deterioration. The Specific Power Consumption is around 36 Units per Tonne of Production. In cement production entire crushing and grinding process consumes about 85% of the electricity.

The Industry wish to decrease its Specific Power Consumption (SPC) while looking for chances of increase in Grindability of Clinker. (LCA).
