Better materials for Agricultural machinery

 Industrial Problem for Innovation /

Unit engaged in manufacturing of agricultural machinery needs better materials so that parts like shovels, rotavator blades etc suffer less wear and tear. A typical rotavator blade has life of about 300 acres and the unit wants that life should increase to 600 acres by usage of special materials or by methods like carbide spraying. Agricultural equipments are subjected to harsh environments as these equipments are not parked under roof and therfore have to endure rain, dust etc. Techniques such as powder coating are required to prevent rusting or special materials that do not rust are needed. Academicians keen to work on this topic are requested to contact TEC, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
